The Apprentice

Business Education Scholarship Training

The Apprentice program offered through the B.E.S.T. foundation is an internship program based on the popular T.V. program hosted by Donald Trump.

Apprentices will work four month long rotations as interns at local businesses. Each apprentice will work 20 hours in that month for that business. The hours are arranged with the business site supervisor and may include on the job training or a research project that can be completed at home.

Apprentices will also work as members of a team on four challenges during the school year. The four challenges are business promotion, charity fundraiser, a mystery challenge, and CEO interview. The challenges are one month long also.

Apprentices receive points based on their performance at the businesses and the winning group for each challenge also receives points. The apprentice with the highest point total at the end of the program will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship. All apprentices that complete four rotations and four challenges will receive a $500 cash scholarship.

The B.E.S.T. Apprentice program is an eight-month program starting in October and ending in May . Students must have their own transportation and be willing to make the eight-month commitment to the program.

Apprentices gain valuable work experience, network with business owners, start building a resume, learn to work in a team in a business setting, as well as earn money for career training.

Intern sites include: American Red Cross, California Ink (printing and graphics), Extra Hands (marketing and advertising), Farmers Insurance, La Mirada Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe’s Office, SASSFA (job training, preparation, and research), ABK Bookkeeping, and TNT Fireworks.
